Is usps.com legit?
No, but usps.gov is …
Have you received an email with the subject:
Delivery notification – Parcel delivery … failed
After a few lines of pretend-data, the ‘notice’ gives you the opportunity to click on a link to https://tools.usps dot [wait for it] COM!
Guess what? That’s a scam. According to an official United States Postal Service source, “… a number of people have reported receiving emails claiming to be from the U.S. Post Office. The emails are regarding a missing package delivery and contain a link. In one instance, post office officials say someone clicked on the link and it caused their computer to lock up.
“The emails are coming from an email address using “@usps.com.” Any email that comes directly from the U.S. Post Office will always come from an email address using “@usps.gov.”
Remember that links are often click bait. Think first, then Google it. Don’t be taken.
