Excellent question! If you’ll navigate to’s forms on Wills (and trusts) you’ll see that a wide variety are readily available for you to shop online and download. Once you have the right form or estate planning forms kit, you can complete it your own.

Wills are governed by common law, which means that you can pretty much describe your intentions in any written document that you sign. You can even create what is known as an Hollistic Will where you write down your intentions in an unformatted style.

Most people prefer to create a Will using a legal form. No notary is needed but witnesses are recommended. When I created Wills for clients, I added contact information for the witnesses – better than an illegible signature as the only contact for someone to refer to later when attempting to administer your estate.

For more sophisticated estate planning, it is a good idea to find a lawyer who specializes in this area and can guide you based on your individual circumstances. You can find estate planning attorneys and law firms using’s find-an-attorney search tool. Just enter Will and the city and state convenient to you for a list.

LegalShield is an affordable legal services plan includes Will preparation for its members, among numerous other benefits. is an independent associate that can help you select the right plan. Call 800-253-7271 to select a plan and start your membership, including attorney preparation of your Will at no additional cost.

Finally, you can order books online to guide you through setting up your Will. Many have tear-out forms that you can use. Shop our store for titles.

Hope this helps!
